Get To Know Me
Hi! I am Dr. Bre Ford, Doctor of Psychology, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and Certified Yoga Teacher.
Many of us dream of creating and growing a family. When there are bumps in the road, it can feel devastating, confusing, and even hopeless. My goal is to renew your sense of hope. I model my treatment methods after the latest research, which clearly and consistently proves the connection between stress reduction and positive pregnancy outcomes. I have found that, specifically, comprehensive stress reduction is key in achieving this goal. My therapeutic process works within this principle by enhancing the mind-body connection, reducing physical manifestations of stress, utilizing narrative therapy to release self-defeating beliefs, and strengthening the support system.
How It Works
-
To begin our work together, it is important that I gain a thorough understanding during our first session of your experience so far on your fertility journey. Additionally, we cover major parts of your life, such as partnership, family dynamics, lifestyle, and past traumas. This information helps me assess how we can best move forward. It is also during this time that, if you are comfortable, I ask for written permission to consult with your medical team to coordinate care.
-
This is one of two main parts of our work together. During this phase of treatment, we identify and practice mindfulness-based stress reduction techniques that work best for you and your body. We explore when and how to practice these techniques regularly on your own to assist in your fertility journey.
-
Narratives are beliefs we hold about ourselves and the world around us. After experiencing unpleasant or traumatic life experiences, maladaptive narratives often get “stuck”, and turn into negative beliefs we hold about ourselves. I help clients work to identify and release the narratives not serving you, creating open channels for confidence in your body and yourself.
-
The positive relationship between partner support and successful fertility outcomes is well-researched. As a systemic therapist trained in relational work, I find a great benefit in incorporating one’s partner or support person into the process. During this phase of treatment, partners are invited to join for 1-2 sessions. We explore best ways to stay connected and receive support while on your fertility journey. If you are a single parent by choice, we can invite a support person (such as a friend or family member) as opposed to a spouse or romantic partner. Partners are always welcome to join sessions by Zoom or phone call if their schedules do not permit in-person attendance.

Beyond Fertility Counseling
I am here to assist you on your fertility journey during the critical time when you are trying to conceive. But what next? Many women choose to stay in counseling to find the support they need during pregnancy, the postpartum period, and beyond. Establishing a treatment plan is a collaborative process. If you would like continued therapeutic support beyond TTC (Trying To Conceive), I am more than happy to tailor our work towards meeting your changing needs.
